The Question: Why not simply list services?
To have done so would’ve ultimately proved to be a passive approach to engagement / inclusion.
That business / operations model assumes ‘decisions are siloed’ and ‘operations are in isolation’.
The Temptation: Go-to-market strategy based on capabilities.
Mimicking others’ habits / tactics – bypassing developing a durable strategy.
The Consequence(s): of mimicking status-quo:
New ecosystem – same commoditization / windsock.
Failing to distinguish my capabilities – that AI cannot replicate (in the near future); therefore, forfeiting my positioning: AI is my tool.
The Exploration: How problems kept refusing to fit inside neat categories?
My experience has impressed upon me that:
- Organizations tend to lack shared understanding before they attempt to optimize and/or scale
- Once you take an integrated / cross-functional approach, you gain both “buy-in” and clarity
These experiences inspired my “tradespace” / “tradeoffs” niche.
The Insight: I solve for integrated reasoning – not isolated services.
Before efforts to:
- Operationalize
- Optimize
- Scale
my contributions surface tradespace and alternatives (incentives, constraints, dependencies, …) shared and/or in conflict between cross-functional units.
The Porteolas connection: How does this influence how I work today?
Decision systems inform organizing principles.
My educational and professional histories have shared taking an ‘integrated approach’ – making decision space legible had always been my first priority – establishing shared understanding where silos had previously stalemated progress and/or detracted from effectiveness.
