Human-Centered Assurance :: Recognizing that human factors, cognition, and decision support remain foundational—even in automated, AI-enhanced environments. Stewarding safety, explainability, fairness, and strategic alignment with policy and technology.
Promise (purpose)
To strengthen decision assurance in an AI-enabled world by modernizing classical operations research methods—ensuring organizations remain ready, resilient, and responsibly guided under uncertainty.
Journey (mission + vision)
Mission
To design and apply quantitative and qualitative frameworks that expose risk, surface bias, strengthen governance, and enhance operational adaptability—leveraging OR, simulation, optimization, and AI assurance techniques to support confident action across complex systems.
Vision
A future where organizations navigate AI-driven complexity with clarity, foresight, and trust—guided by rigorous analytics, accountable governance, and human-centered system design.
The name Porteolas reflects how I approach systems work.
“Port” draws from the French word porteuse – to carry or wield with skill
“Eòlas” comes from Scots-Gaelic, meaning journey, understanding, or lived experience.
Together, the name reflects practice shaped through doing – carrying analytical responsibility across uncertain terrain.
The dodecahedron imagery was inspired by Mark Devine’s book “The Way of the SEAL”
three spheres: self, team, organization
five mountains: physical, mental, emotional, intuitional, spiritual
Systems work at the boundary of people, policy, and technology.
