SQUEAKY

Tactical Operator:  Operations Research Analyst, Data Scientist

Starting from:

      • “Squeaky wheel get’s the grease”, an ‘ol addage I learned in the U.S. Navy.
      • a friend suggesting “Squirrels For You” when I was trying to come up with my name (that became Porteolas).

Squeaky the squirrel got the nod to represent the ‘tactical operator’ character contributing to Porteolas’ development.

Common tactical behaviors of squirrels – that have been tapped into:

      • Preparation and hardwork
      • Energy and enthusiasm
      • Adaptability and resourcefulnes
      • Trust and communication
      • Foresight and planning

Squeaky is the primary contributor of the risk-informed approaches, insights, and tactics content:

Squeaky’s professional development has spanned:

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The Good

The creation of the Porteolas platform has allowed me to explore the intersections of data, risk, and strategy and deepen my understanding of these fields.

Through this experience, I have been able to broaden and deepen my expertise in seeking truth in data and measurement, in addition to mitigating data-related risks. This has enabled me to embody the qualities of a ‘Good’ archetype and become a more effective advisor on data risk.

  •

The Bad

I refuse to have any part in (or be motivated to) deceive and/or manipulate.

  •

The Ugly

Inspiration to create the Porteolas platform, stemmed from my awareness of the risks of developing a narrow, siloed perspective.

I knew that this could lead to pursuing the wrong metrics, applying the wrong calculations, and ultimately misinterpreting business needs. I recognized that if I didn’t broaden my skills and knowledge beyond my immediate role, I risked becoming ineffective in the long term.

Through the development of the Porteolas platform, I have had the opportunity to explore the intersections of data, risk, and strategy, and to deepen my expertise in seeking truth in data and measurement. This has enabled me to avoid the pitfalls of the ‘ugly’ archetype and become a more effective advisor on data risk, with a more comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities in this rapidly evolving field.
